Mission Statement/Objectives:

The Youth Learning Center (YLC) provides unique academic and enrichment experiences for youth from underserved communities to inspire lifelong learning, social responsibility and moral leadership.

Service Opportunities:

  • Tag-Team Tutor: Are you short on time but passionate about teaching and learning? Tag-Team Tutoring is the perfect option for your busy schedule. Gather a group of your colleagues or friends to develop a “team” of tutors who will alternate working with children each week in our home work center. Tag-Team Tutors will work together to help our children succeed in reading and in math—a great and meaningful team-building experience!
  • Math Buddy: Impact a child by providing one-on-one math assistance in our tutoring center. YLC math tutors have access to a variety of in-house and online tools and games to help our students improve their math skills while having fun.
  • Reading/Writing Buddy: Work one-on-one with a child to conquer illiteracy! Read aloud to and with a child and engage in various language arts activities to help students improve literacy. YLC reading tutors can use a variety of in-house and online tools and games to help our students improve their reading and writing skills while having fun.

All opportunities are Mondays-Fridays, 3pm-6:30pm, at least one hour per week for 8 weeks.
