Mission Statement/Objectives:

 

The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

 

Service Opportunities:

 

Marketing Volunteer: Volunteer to assist the Marketing Department 2-3 days per week with daily office functions.  Tasks include data entry, filing, preparing mailings and assisting with fulfilling promotional item orders.  Some tasks include light lifting.
Charles Drew Volunteer: Volunteer/s to help the Missouri Illinois Blood Services Region Charles Drew Team 2-3 times/month.  Responsible for creating packets for various health fairs, events and presentations.  Also may be assisting in mailing out new matched donor letters to potential Charles Drew Blood Donors.
Volunteers Services Volunteer: Volunteer/s to help 2-3 days a week in assisting volunteer manager with various day to day tasks which include data entry, follow up phone calls with volunteers, preparation of mailings for various departments, answering telephone, etc.
Center Assistant: Volunteers at our fixed site donor centers – North County, West County (Saturdays), Lindell Blvd, St. Charles, Cape Girardeau, Columbia, MO, Effingham, Jefferson City to provide a warm friendly greeting to blood donors and explain the registration process for these donors.  Also may serve as a canteen aid providing refreshments to donors as they are completed with their blood donation.
Blood Drive Assistant: Volunteers that are willing to travel downtown St. Louis to volunteer at corporate blood drives.  Providing a warm friendly greeting to blood donors and explain the registration process for these donors.  Also may serve as a canteen aid providing refreshments to donors as they are completed with their blood donation.
Bilengual Volunteer: Volunteer/s to serve as bilingual volunteers “Native Spanish Speaking” and “Non Native Spanish Speaking” to translate and assist at American Red Cross Blood Drivers in the St. Louis and Kansas City areas.
Hospital Services: Volunteers for our Hospital Services Department as a Blood Services Transport Driver.  The volunteer would deliver and/or pick up blood and blood components in a safe and efficient manner.  The volunteer would have a valid state driver’s license with a good driving record, ability to lift 50 pounds and minimum age of 21.

 

Volunteer Pre-Requisites:

 

- Volunteers must complete application
- Background check (no cost)
- Orientation and training session for certain positions, 2.5 hours
